Coding for designers

After my experience with prototyping in Framer js I decided to learn more about HTML and CSS and if that goes well maybe even JavaScript. I began with w3schools – it’s a great website with some theory and exercises, starting from the very basics.

What is also very helpful is checking the source code of the implemented websites you’ve designed. You know the elements of them so it’s easier to understand the code. You can try to change the fonts, colors, buttons, borders etc. just to see what is possible.

While working in a sprint with an interdisciplinary team it’s important for designers to use the help of programmers. Try to verify with them if your ideas are possible and keep it simple – the code should be clean, and the interactions should be repeatable. After a while you’ll gain your own intuition and they will appreciate your effort. Just don’t ask them to fix your computer 🙂
